Sutherland Becomes World No. 1 T20I Bowler, Prendergast Climbs to Career-Best Rankings
Australia’s Annabel Sutherland has ascended to the No. 1 spot in the ICC Women’s T20I bowling rankings for the first time in her career. Despite not featuring in a T20I match since March, Sutherland retained her rating of 736 points, which proved sufficient as her competitors experienced dips in form.
Pakistan's Sadia Iqbal, who previously held the top position, dropped to joint-second with India’s Deepti Sharma. Iqbal managed just three wickets during Pakistan’s 2-1 series loss to Ireland in Dublin earlier this month.
Meanwhile, Ireland’s Orla Prendergast has made significant strides in the rankings following a stellar all-round performance in the same series. The 23-year-old scored 144 runs at a strike rate of 135.84 and took four wickets, earning her the Player-of-the-Series award. As a result, she jumped eight spots to 19th among T20I batters and climbed to sixth in the all-rounder rankings — both personal bests.
Prendergast’s heroics led Ireland to a historic series win over Pakistan, with additional contributions from teammates Laura Delany and Rebecca Stokell, who rose to joint 50th and 77th in the batting rankings respectively.
Despite the defeat, Pakistan saw some individual gains. Muneeba Ali moved up to 32nd among T20I batters, while allrounder Fatima Sana climbed to 59th.
