Corbin Bosch Receives Demerit Point for Send-Off in Second T20I Against Australia

South African allrounder Corbin Bosch has been handed a demerit point by the ICC for an inappropriate send-off directed at Australia’s Ben Dwarshuis during the second T20I at Darwin on Tuesday.

The incident occurred in the 17th over of Australia's innings, when Bosch dismissed Dwarshuis and pointed towards the Australian dugout as the batter made his way off the field. Bosch was found to have breached Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which deals with “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon dismissal.”

Bosch accepted the charge and the sanction, which was administered by match referee Andy Pycroft. It marks the first offence in Bosch’s international career, now 11 matches old.

Despite the minor disciplinary blemish, Bosch played a pivotal role in South Africa’s dominant 53-run win, claiming 3 for 20 in his three-over spell and helping the visitors level the three-match series 1-1.

The match was defined by a spectacular innings from Dewald Brevis, whose record-breaking unbeaten 125 off 56 balls — the highest T20I score by a South African — powered the Proteas to 218 for 7. Australia were then bowled out for 165, with both Bosch and rising star Kwena Maphaka taking three wickets apiece.

The series decider will be played in Cairns on Saturday, after which the two teams will contest a three-match ODI series.

ICC Code of Conduct – Article 2.5:
Pertains to “conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game,” specifically targeting send-offs or gestures which could incite aggression or show disrespect to dismissed batters.
