Sophie Devine Shines as Southern Brave Cruise to Third Straight Win in The Hundred

Sophie Devine delivered a superb all-round performance as Southern Brave maintained their unbeaten run in the 2025 Women's Hundred with a dominant eight-wicket win over Northern Superchargers at the Utilita Bowl.

The Brave, now top of the table with three wins from three, were led by Devine’s 3 for 15 with the ball, before she wrapped up the chase with an unbeaten 15 alongside Laura Wolvaardt.

Bowlers Set the Tone

Opting to bat first, the Superchargers struggled to build momentum against a disciplined Brave attack. They crawled to 19 for 2 in the powerplay, losing Alice Davidson-Richards (2) and Phoebe Litchfield (5) early. Davina Perrin (13) was run out in a moment of indecision, and the wickets kept tumbling.

Skipper Hollie Armitage fought hard for an unbeaten 36, but only two other batters reached double figures. Annabel Sutherland (20) was the only player to find some rhythm before falling to Mady Villiers, while Rhianna Southby pulled off a stunning catch to dismiss Bess Heath off Georgia Adams.

Devine then returned to clean up the tail with two wickets in two balls in the final set, restricting the Superchargers to 102 all out.

Wyatt-Hodge Reaches 1,000 Runs

Chasing a modest target, Brave were calm and clinical. While Maia Bouchier fell early for 5, Danni Wyatt-Hodge struck form quickly, hitting three consecutive boundaries off Linsey Smith to seize control.

A single off Kate Cross early in the innings also saw Wyatt-Hodge become just the second player to reach 1,000 runs in The Hundred, following Nat Sciver-Brunt.

Wyatt-Hodge top-scored with 43, while Wolvaardt (33)* and Devine (15)* guided the team to victory with 17 balls to spare.

Devine: "We Adapted Exceptionally Well"

Named the Meerkat Match Hero, Devine praised the Brave’s adaptability and home support.

"The support we've had down here these last two games has been exceptional," said Devine. "The great thing about this competition is understanding your home conditions, and I think we did that exceptionally well today.

"Credit to everyone – I think we adapted really well with the ball, and the way Danni and Wolvy went out there with the bat, they made it look like a different wicket."

Southern Brave will now head on the road with momentum firmly on their side, while the Superchargers will need to regroup quickly to stay in contention.
