South Africa’s left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj has reclaimed the top spot in the ICC Men’s ODI Bowling Rankings following a match-winning performance in the first ODI against Australia in Cairns on August 19. Maharaj, who last held the No. 1 position in November 2023, surged two places to displace Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana, now ranked second, with India’s Kuldeep Yadav in third.
The 35-year-old spinner delivered a career-best ODI performance, taking 5 for 33, which dismantled Australia’s batting line-up and handed South Africa a comprehensive 98-run victory, giving them a 1-0 lead in the series.
