England to Tour Sri Lanka for White-Ball Series Ahead of 2026 T20 World Cup

England's men's cricket team is set to tour Sri Lanka for a white-ball series in early 2026 as part of their preparations for the ICC T20 World Cup. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed the tour schedule, which includes three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three T20 Internationals (T20Is).

The tour will kick off with the ODI series, with matches scheduled for January 22, 24, and 27. The focus will then shift to the shortest format, with the T20Is lined up for January 30, February 1, and February 3. The ECB has yet to announce the venues for the series.

The T20I leg of the tour is particularly significant for England as it forms a crucial part of their final preparations for the 2026 T20 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. England, two-time champions in 2010 and 2022, will be eager to make amends after falling short in the semi-finals of the previous edition held in the West Indies and USA.

This tour will also serve as a valuable test for Harry Brook, who has made a promising start to his tenure as England’s white-ball captain. With a young and dynamic squad expected to feature, the series will offer an opportunity to fine-tune combinations and assess players in subcontinental conditions similar to those expected during the World Cup.

The tour reaffirms England's intent to adapt to spin-friendly conditions and build momentum ahead of cricket's biggest T20 event.
