DY Patil Stadium Replaces Bengaluru as Venue for ICC Women’s World Cup 2025

In a significant change ahead of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai has replaced Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium as a host venue. The decision was confirmed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday (August 22), following the Karnataka State Cricket Association's failure to secure the necessary government permissions to stage matches in Bengaluru.

The Navi Mumbai venue will now host five key fixtures, including three league games, one semi-final, and potentially the final of the tournament. However, the final remains contingent on Pakistan's qualification, in which case it will be held at Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium.

This development follows the tragic stampede in Bengaluru earlier this year during celebrations of Royal Challengers Bangalore’s IPL victory, which raised safety concerns and led to delays in securing the venue clearance. Cricbuzz first reported the uncertainty around Bengaluru’s participation as a host city on August 7.

With this venue change, several matches have been rescheduled across the five tournament venues: DY Patil Stadium (Navi Mumbai), ACA Stadium (Guwahati), ACA-VDCA Stadium (Vizag), Holkar Stadium (Indore), and R Premadasa Stadium (Colombo).

Key Schedule Changes:

  • The tournament opener between co-hosts India and Sri Lanka on September 30, originally scheduled in Bengaluru, will now take place in Guwahati.

  • The high-profile India vs New Zealand clash on October 23, as well as Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh on October 20, have been moved to Navi Mumbai.

  • New Zealand vs Bangladesh on October 10 has been shifted from Vizag to Guwahati, while England vs New Zealand on October 26 moves to Vizag.

The tournament, featuring 10 teams, will run from September 30 to November 2, with the top four teams from the league stage advancing to the semi-finals. The first semi-final will be held in Guwahati or Colombo on October 29, and the second semi-final in Navi Mumbai on October 30. The final is scheduled for November 2 in Colombo or Navi Mumbai, depending on Pakistan’s qualification.
