Superchargers Cruise Past Originals to Seal Second Spot in Women's Hundred

Northern Superchargers booked their place in The Hundred Eliminator with a commanding eight-wicket win over Manchester Originals, chasing down a modest 95-run target with 35 balls to spare. The result not only cemented their second-place finish in the group stage but also gave them a vital edge ahead of a potential rain-affected Eliminator, with a direct ticket to the final on offer should Saturday’s clash be washed out.

Australian all-rounder Annabel Sutherland was the standout performer and was deservedly named Player of the Match for her all-round display — a clinical 3 for 15 with the ball followed by a rapid 30* off 17 balls with the bat.

Originals Falter with the Bat

After being sent in to bat by Superchargers captain Hollie Armitage, the Manchester Originals got off to a promising start thanks to Beth Mooney’s brisk 20 off 13 balls. However, once she fell, the innings unraveled quickly.

Only Alice Monaghan showed any resistance with a lively 26 off 17 balls, including the game’s only two sixes. The rest of the batting unit failed to capitalise, as Sutherland and Nicola Carey (2 for 13) ran through the middle and lower order. Kate Cross was economical and disciplined, conceding just six runs from her 15 balls.

The Originals were bowled out for just 94 — far below the total they needed to boost their net run rate and challenge for a top-three finish.

Superchargers Dominate the Chase

With Originals needing to restrict Superchargers to 38 or less to have any chance of finishing in the top three, the chase was always going to be a formality — and it played out that way.

Alice Davidson-Richards set the tone early with a flurry of boundaries in her 30 off 18, before falling to a catch by Deandra Dottin off Lauren Filer. That brought Sutherland to the crease, and she continued the assault, smashing Dottin for a four and a six in a dominant display.

At the other end, Phoebe Litchfield (26* off 20) played a smart supporting role, working the gaps and rotating the strike efficiently as the duo eased to the target without further hiccup.

A Confident Side Eyeing the Final

With the win, the Superchargers ensured they will face London Spirit in Saturday’s Eliminator. However, should rain intervene, their superior second-place finish will see them progress directly to Sunday’s final against Southern Brave.

Speaking after the game, match hero Annabel Sutherland said:

“It feels great. Hopefully we can carry that momentum into the next two games. We love it at Headingley and I guess it shows in the results we've got here.
Everyone's really keen for Saturday, and hopefully we will put our best foot forward. We honestly just have a blast out there. We really enjoy each other's company. It's a great tournament, lots of fun.”

With momentum, team spirit, and key players hitting form at the right time, the Superchargers look primed for a serious shot at their first Women's Hundred title.
