Asia Cup Match Timings Changed to Beat UAE Heat
To counter the intense heat expected in the UAE during September, organizers of the upcoming Asia Cup have pushed back the start times of 18 out of 19 matches. All these matches — including the final — will now begin at 6:30 PM Gulf Standard Time (GST), which is 8:00 PM Indian Standard Time (IST).
Temperatures are expected to remain above 40°C well into the evening throughout the month, prompting the participating cricket boards to request a delay in match timings. Broadcasters agreed to the change, aiming to ensure better playing conditions for the teams.
The only game not affected by this change is the day match between UAE and Oman on September 15, which will be played at Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi.
The tournament kicks off on September 9, with Afghanistan facing Hong Kong in Abu Dhabi, marking the start of the eight-team competition.
