Pakistan Rest Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf for UAE T20I Tri-Series Match
Pakistan made two significant changes to their playing XI for today’s T20I match against the UAE, opting to rest key pacers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf. The decision comes after a thrilling win over Afghanistan in the tri-series opener on Friday, where Haris Rauf’s brilliant double-wicket maiden turned the tide in Pakistan’s favor.
Pakistan’s Winning Streak Continues
In a tactical move, Pakistan chose to bat first after winning the toss, aiming to set a competitive target against the UAE. This marks the second time in as many days that Pakistan's captain, Salman Ali Agha, has opted to put runs on the board first. A win today would put Pakistan on the cusp of securing a place in the final of the tri-series, further solidifying their position as favorites in the competition.
Changes in the Playing XI
The big news ahead of this encounter was the absence of Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf, who were crucial in Pakistan’s victory over Afghanistan. Shaheen has been in superb form, while Rauf's performance last match included a match-winning spell of four wickets, which derailed Afghanistan's chase. The two pacers were rested in favor of Hasan Ali and Salman Mirza, with the latter making his way into the XI for this match.
UAE's Challenge
Meanwhile, the UAE, led by captain Muhammad Waseem, is aiming for a strong start in what is expected to be a busy month. The UAE side will be involved in four matches this week, culminating in their participation in the Asia Cup alongside Pakistan, India, and Hong Kong, starting September 9.
Playing XIs:
UAE: Muhammad Waseem (captain), Muhammad Zohaib, Asif Khan, Alishan Sharafu, Rahul Chopra (wk), Ethan D'Souza, Dhruv Parashar, Saghir Khan, Haider Ali, Muhammad Jawad, Junaid Siddique.
