Northern Superchargers Clinch Maiden Women’s Hundred Title with Commanding Win Over Southern Brave
Northern Superchargers lifted their first Women’s Hundred title with a dominant seven-wicket win over previously unbeaten Southern Brave in the final at Lord’s.
Chasing 116, the Superchargers sealed victory with 12 balls to spare, thanks to a composed, unbeaten 60-run partnership between Australians Nicola Carey (35*) and Annabel Sutherland (28*). Their calm under pressure capped a clinical performance from a side peaking at the right moment.
Brave, finalists in four of the tournament’s five editions but winners just once, never found fluency after being sent in to bat. They were held to 115 for 6, with Kate Cross and Sutherland both claiming 2 for 23. Cross struck a decisive early blow with two wickets in consecutive deliveries, removing Maia Bouchier and bowling Laura Wolvaardt for a first-ball duck, leaving Brave floundering at 28 for 2.
Sutherland accounted for the two top-scorers, Freya Kemp (26 off 16) and Danni Wyatt-Hodge (25), while Sophie Devine endured a frustrating 23 off 28 balls before falling to Lucy Higham.
Despite a 47-run stand between Kemp and Devine, Brave's innings never fully recovered from the slow start, which saw just 15 runs scored off the first 19 balls. The mounting dot balls — 42 in total — created pressure that culminated in a calamitous run-out of captain Georgia Adams.
The Superchargers' chase began shakily with the loss of Davina Perrin and Alice Davidson-Richards inside the powerplay. Perrin, fresh from a stunning century in the eliminator, could manage only 17 before holing out to Bouchier at long-on.
But Phoebe Litchfield injected life into the innings with a blistering 26 off just 13 balls, including a four and three consecutive boundaries off Mady Villiers. However, her momentum was stalled by a short sun shower break, and she fell soon after, miscuing a sweep off Chloe Tryon.
At 59 for 3, Carey and Sutherland took charge. They paced the remainder of the innings expertly, with Sutherland sealing the win in style by launching Adams for six.
Tryon had a mixed outing, missing an lbw opportunity against Carey and suffering the misfortune of hitting Sutherland’s pad with a delivery that dislodged the bails without removing them — a rare moment of misluck that summed up Brave’s day.
Lauren Bell, who had taken at least one wicket in every match this season, went wicketless for the first time in 2025.
While Superchargers celebrate their maiden title, Brave are left to rue another final that slipped away. Their perfect record through the season was undone by a Superchargers side who, with bat and ball, were better on the day.
