N Srinivasan, Rupa Gurunath to Join CSK Board of Directors
N Srinivasan, the former BCCI president, and his daughter Rupa Gurunath are set to join the board of Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited (CSKCL), the company that owns the Chennai Super Kings IPL franchise. This marks the first time Srinivasan will officially be part of the CSKCL board.
The appointments, which have been approved by the board, are expected to be formally ratified at the company’s Annual General Meeting scheduled for September 27. While Srinivasan, 80, will take over as chairman, Rupa Gurunath will serve as a full-time director. Long-time team executive Kasi Viswanathan continues as the Managing Director and CEO.
Srinivasan, who has largely stayed away from public appearances in recent years, remains a powerful and influential figure in Indian cricket. His daughter Rupa has been managing most of the business affairs in his absence.
In addition to Srinivasan, Gurunath, and Viswanathan, the CSKCL board also includes former BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel, R Srinivasan, Rakesh Singh, PL Subramanian, V Manickam, and E Jayashree.
Speaking to PTI, Kasi Viswanathan welcomed Srinivasan’s return.
“It’s a great boon for CSK,” Viswanathan said. “He’s been the best administrator for us and I’m very happy that he’s come back into CSK. He’ll be in an advisory role only because he doesn’t travel much, but we’ll be in contact with him.”
The development comes after a difficult season for the franchise. CSK finished last (10th place) in the IPL 2025 standings—their worst performance in the league’s history—managing just four wins from 14 matches. Initially captained by Ruturaj Gaikwad, the team saw MS Dhoni return to lead after Gaikwad suffered an injury midway through the season.
