Yastika Bhatia Ruled Out of Australia ODIs and World Cup; Uma Chetry Named Replacement

India's preparations for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia and the Women’s ODI World Cup have been dealt a blow with wicketkeeper-batter Yastika Bhatia ruled out due to a left knee injury sustained during a preparatory camp in Visakhapatnam.

In her absence, Uma Chetry, who was part of the standby list, has been named as her replacement in both squads. The 23-year-old, who has featured in seven T20Is for India, is yet to make her ODI debut.

Chetry's elevation to the senior team also means she has been withdrawn from the India A squad, which is set to face South Africa in a World Cup warm-up match on September 28.

Yastika's Recent Form

Yastika, who last played an ODI in October 2024, was seen as a backup to Richa Ghosh in the World Cup squad. She earned her selection after a stellar run with India A in Australia earlier this year, scoring 59, 66, and 42 in three 50-over matches.

India's World Cup Campaign

India is set to open their World Cup campaign against Sri Lanka in Guwahati on September 30. The loss of Yastika adds pressure on the squad, though Chetry's inclusion brings fresh energy and promise to the lineup.
