Pakistan to Host Sri Lanka for Three ODIs Between South Africa Series and T20I Tri-Series

Pakistan's home cricket calendar continues to grow busier as they prepare to host Sri Lanka for a three-match ODI series in Rawalpindi this November, squeezed tightly between two major assignments — a bilateral series against South Africa and a T20I tri-series involving Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.

The ODI series against Sri Lanka is scheduled for November 11, 13, and 15 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, leaving only a two-day break following the conclusion of Pakistan’s ODI series against South Africa, which wraps up on November 8 in Faisalabad. After the Sri Lanka ODIs, Pakistan will have just one day's rest before the T20I tri-series kicks off on November 17, also in Rawalpindi.

This will be the first time Sri Lanka tour Pakistan for an ODI series since 2019, when the home side won 2-0 under the leadership of Sarfaraz Ahmed, with the first match of that series washed out in Karachi. Sri Lanka's most recent visit to Pakistan came ahead of the 2023 ODI World Cup during the Asia Cup, with matches played in Lahore.

The upcoming ODI series marks another addition to Pakistan's action-packed home season, which begins with two Tests against South Africa from October 12 to 24 in Lahore and Rawalpindi. That series will be followed by three T20Is and three ODIs against the Proteas, concluding on November 8. The T20I tri-series will run from November 17 to 29, with the initial matches in Rawalpindi before the tournament shifts to Lahore.

Pakistan are coming into this packed schedule on the back of success in the recent T20I tri-series involving Afghanistan and UAE. Their next major assignment is the T20 Asia Cup, beginning September 9, where they face Oman in their opening match on September 12, followed by a high-profile clash against India on September 14.
