Suchith, Chopra, and Lalwani Join Uttarakhand Ahead of 2025–26 Domestic Season

In a significant boost to Uttarakhand's domestic cricket squad, left-arm spinner Jagadeesha Suchith, opener Prashant Chopra, and batter Bhupen Lalwani have moved to the state ahead of the 2025–26 domestic season. All three players are set to begin their new chapter by featuring in the upcoming Uttarakhand Premier League.

Suchith Brings Spin Firepower

Jagadeesha Suchith, who previously turned out for Karnataka and most recently for Nagaland, was one of the standout performers in the 2024–25 season. He picked up 43 wickets in just six first-class games, emerging as the highest wicket-taker in the Plate group. Having made his domestic debut in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy back in April 2014, Suchith brings a decade of experience and recent form to bolster Uttarakhand’s bowling attack.

Chopra Adds Experience to the Top Order

Veteran opener Prashant Chopra also joins the Uttarakhand ranks after a long stint with Himachal Pradesh. Chopra made his domestic debut in 2011 and has since amassed impressive numbers across formats. In first-class cricket, he has played 81 matches, scored 5093 runs, and registered 14 centuries. In the 2024–25 season, he scored 386 runs in seven matches, including a notable 171 against his new team, Uttarakhand. He has also been a consistent performer in List A and T20 formats, with over 4000 and 2000 runs respectively.

Lalwani Looks to Rebuild

Bhupen Lalwani, the youngest of the trio, has had a more modest domestic journey so far. Having represented Mumbai initially and then Chhattisgarh in the 2024–25 season, Lalwani played just two first-class games last season. Since making his debut in 2020, he has featured in 16 first-class matches and three List A games. The move to Uttarakhand presents a fresh opportunity for the 24-year-old to re-establish himself.

Part of a Broader Transfer Trend

These transfers come amid a wave of player movements ahead of the new domestic season. Notable among other changes are Karun Nair’s return to Karnataka, Harshal Patel’s switch back to Gujarat from Haryana, and Jalaj Saxena moving from Kerala to Maharashtra.

With Suchith, Chopra, and Lalwani in their ranks, Uttarakhand will be hoping for a strong showing in the 2025–26 domestic competitions, starting with the Uttarakhand Premier League.
