Apollo Tyres Secures Team India Jersey Sponsorship with ₹579 Crore Deal

In a landmark commercial agreement, Apollo Tyres has clinched the jersey sponsorship rights for the Indian cricket team, outbidding Canva and JK Cements with a massive ₹579 crore deal spanning three years.

The deal, finalised at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai on Tuesday, covers 121 bilateral fixtures and 21 ICC matches, translating to approximately ₹4.77 crore per game. The final per-match value could vary slightly depending on whether the fixture is a bilateral or an ICC event.

Apollo Tyres, headquartered in Gurgaon and operating in over 100 countries, beat out Canva (₹544 crore) and JK Cements (₹477 crore) in a fiercely contested three-way bidding process. The bid amount significantly exceeds the ₹3.5 crore base price for bilateral games and ₹1.5 crore for ICC matches set by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

New Era Begins After Dream11 Exit

The BCCI was forced to seek a new sponsor following a government order banning all real-money gaming companies, including Dream11, which held a ₹358 crore jersey sponsorship deal. The ban came just ahead of the Asia Cup, leaving the Indian team without a jersey sponsor during the continental tournament in the UAE.

Apollo’s successful bid, overseen by Mumbai-based WPP Media, comes as a welcome surprise for the BCCI. Initial industry speculation had suggested tepid interest due to the ban on gaming companies — previously among the most aggressive bidders in the Indian sports sponsorship market.

However, Apollo’s offer not only met expectations but surpassed Dream11’s previous deal by over ₹200 crore, reaffirming the Indian team’s enduring commercial value.

First Appearance: India A vs Australia A

Fans will first see the Apollo Tyres logo on India’s jersey during the upcoming three-match ODI series between India A and Australia A in Kanpur, scheduled for September 30, October 2, and 5. The BCCI has already directed selectors to finalise the India A squad early to allow time for jersey production.

The Indian senior team will don the new jersey for the first time during the two-Test home series against the West Indies, starting October 2, followed by a white-ball tour of Australia.

Other Bidders and Interest

While Canva and JK Cements submitted official bids, UP-based Shank Air and Dubai-based Omniyat had also purchased the Invitation to Tender (ITT) documents but did not participate in the final bidding.
