Mushfiqur Rahim Set to Play 100th Test as Ireland Tour Bangladesh in November
Veteran wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim is poised to become the first Bangladeshi cricketer to play 100 Test matches when Ireland tour Bangladesh for a two-Test series in November. The milestone match is scheduled to take place at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka, starting November 19.
The tour was confirmed after Cricket Ireland agreed to play both Test matches, despite earlier considerations to replace the second Test with an ODI fixture. The first Test will be held in Sylhet, beginning November 11.
Mushfiqur, currently on 98 Tests, made his debut in 2005 at Lord’s as an 18-year-old — becoming the second-youngest player to appear in a Test at the iconic venue, after Sachin Tendulkar. Since then, he has established himself as a cornerstone of Bangladesh cricket, amassing over 6,000 Test runs — the most by any Bangladeshi batter. His 219 not out against Zimbabwe in 2020 remains the country’s highest individual Test score.
Packed Home Season for Bangladesh
Following the Test series, Bangladesh and Ireland will play three T20Is — scheduled for November 27 and 29 in Chattogram, and December 2 in Dhaka.
Meanwhile, West Indies will visit Bangladesh in October for a six-match white-ball series. The three ODIs will be played on October 18, 20, and 23, followed by three T20Is on October 27, 30, and November 1.
According to the ICC’s Future Tours Programme (FTP), Bangladesh has no international commitments in December and January, clearing the way for the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) to take place during that period. The T20 World Cup is scheduled to follow in February.
Additionally, Bangladesh's 2025–26 home season includes upcoming series against Pakistan and New Zealand, rounding off a busy and significant calendar for the national team.
