Australia Fined for Slow Over-Rate in Second ODI Against India
Australia have been fined 10 percent of their match fee for maintaining a slow over-rate during the second ODI against India, played on September 17 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh.
According to the ICC Code of Conduct (Article 2.22) for Players and Player Support Personnel, players are penalized 5 percent of their match fee for each over short of the target, after accounting for all time allowances. In this case, Australia were two overs short of the required rate.
Australian captain Alyssa Healy accepted the sanction, thereby waiving the need for a formal hearing. The charge was levelled by on-field umpires Vrinda Rathi and Janani Narayanan, along with third umpire Lauren Agenbag and fourth umpire Gayathri Venugopalan.
India Level Series with Dominant Win
The match saw India cruise to a 102-run victory, leveling the three-match series at 1-1. Batting first, the hosts were powered by Smriti Mandhana’s brilliant century, before their bowlers dismissed Australia for just 190 runs.
The series decider is set to be played on Saturday, September 20, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
