Mithun Manhas Set to Become New BCCI President; Raghuram Bhat Likely Treasurer
Former Delhi cricketer Mithun Manhas is poised to become the next president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). As of Saturday, Manhas was the only candidate to file nomination papers for the post, making his appointment virtually certain ahead of the September 28 BCCI Annual General Meeting in Mumbai.
Manhas, 45, will succeed former India allrounder Roger Binny, who stepped down in August. Rajeev Shukla, currently BCCI vice-president, has been serving as interim president since then and is expected to continue in his current role.
Meanwhile, former India and Karnataka left-arm spinner Raghuram Bhat is set to take over as BCCI treasurer. Bhat currently serves as the president of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA).
