Injury Scare for Litton Das Ahead of Crucial India Clash

Bangladesh were dealt a potential blow ahead of their highly anticipated Super Four encounter against India, as captain Litton Das suffered a back strain during a training session at the ICC Academy Ground on September 22.

The incident occurred while Litton was attempting a square cut in the nets, after which he appeared to feel discomfort on the left side of his waist. He promptly halted his session and was attended to by team physio Bayzid ul Islam.

"We will have a look at him (Litton) today because from outside he looks quite okay, but we need to conduct a medical assessment before making a final call," a Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official told Cricbuzz on Tuesday.

While initial observations suggest the injury may not be serious, Litton’s potential absence would be a significant setback for Bangladesh as they aim to continue their strong run in the Super Four stage, having opened with a comprehensive win over Sri Lanka.

Compounding concerns is the fact that the BCB has not officially named a vice-captain for the tournament, leaving the question open as to who would lead the side if Litton is ruled out.

Further updates on Litton’s condition are expected following a formal medical assessment.
