Pragyan Ojha, RP Singh Appointed to Senior Men's Selection Committee

Former India cricketers Pragyan Ojha and RP Singh have been appointed to the senior men’s national selection committee, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed following its Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Sunday.

The appointments mark the return of experienced former players to the selection fold as India prepares for a busy international calendar ahead.

Amita Sharma Named Chair of Women’s Selection Committee

In a significant development on the women’s cricket front, Amita Sharma, former India all-rounder from Delhi, has been appointed chairperson of the senior women’s selection committee. Joining her are:

  • Sulakshana Naik (Mumbai)

  • Shravanti Naidu (Hyderabad)

  • Shyama Dey

  • Jaya Sharma

The newly formed panel brings a diverse mix of experience and regional representation as Indian women's cricket enters a transformative phase, especially ahead of the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup.

S Sharath to Head Junior Selection Panel

Former Tamil Nadu cricketer S Sharath has been named chairman of the junior selection committee. Sharath had previously served on the senior selection panel since 2023 and will now oversee talent identification at the U19 and U23 levels.

Mithun Manhas Elected BCCI President

The AGM also saw the unopposed election of former cricketer Mithun Manhas as the new BCCI President. The rest of the office-bearers were also elected unanimously, continuing the trend of consensus leadership within the board.

New Rule for IPL Eligibility

In another key decision, the BCCI announced a new eligibility rule for the Indian Premier League (IPL). Players under the age of 16 will not be allowed to participate in the IPL unless they have played at least one Ranji Trophy game for their state team. The move is aimed at ensuring better preparedness and experience for young players entering the high-profile T20 league.
