Brits and Gardner Break into Top Five in ICC Women's ODI Batting Rankings

South Africa's Tazmin Brits and Australia's Ashleigh Gardner have stormed into the top five of the ICC Women's ODI batting rankings following their standout performances at the ongoing Women's ODI World Cup.

Brits climbed two spots to reach No. 4 after her match-winning 101 off 89 balls against New Zealand on Monday, while Gardner jumped seven places to No. 5 following her scintillating 115 from 83 balls, also against New Zealand, earlier in the tournament.

They now join the elite company of Smriti Mandhana (No. 1), Nat Sciver-Brunt (No. 2), and Beth Mooney (No. 3) at the top of the rankings. Their rise, however, has pushed seasoned names like Ellyse Perry, Laura Wolvaardt, Amy Jones, Hayley Matthews, Alyssa Healy, and Marizanne Kapp further down the list.

Devine and Amin Make Moves

New Zealand captain Sophie Devine has also made a significant leap, climbing seven spots to No. 8, thanks to her consistent batting form. Despite her team losing both their games so far, Devine is the tournament’s leading run-scorer with 197 runs in two innings, including one of the only three centuries scored so far in the World Cup.

Pakistan’s Sidra Amin moved up three spots to joint No. 10, sharing the position with Chamari Athapaththu of Sri Lanka. Amin's rise comes on the back of her crucial 81 against India, which has helped her climb into sixth place on the World Cup run-scorers' chart.

Brits' Historic Run

Brits’ century against New Zealand was her fifth in ODIs in 2025, making her the first woman in history to score five ODI hundreds in a calendar year. Her remarkable run began with a 109 against India in Colombo in April and continued with a sequence of scores that included 101, 101*, 171*, 5, and 101 – a stretch only broken by a rare failure against England in South Africa's World Cup opener.

She has now scored four centuries in her last five innings, cementing her status as one of the most prolific batters in women's cricket today.
