Noor Ahmad Replaces Hasaranga in Desert Vipers Squad for ILT20 Season 4
Afghanistan’s rising spin sensation Noor Ahmad has been signed by the Desert Vipers for the upcoming fourth season of the ILT20, replacing Wanindu Hasaranga, who is unavailable due to domestic commitments with Sri Lanka.
The 20-year-old left-arm wristspinner brings significant T20 franchise experience, having featured in top leagues such as the IPL, Hundred, CPL, SA20, BBL, PSL, and previously in the ILT20 itself. Noor made his ILT20 debut during the league’s inaugural season in 2022-23, playing seven matches for the Sharjah Warriorz.
Speaking on his return to the tournament, Noor said, "I played in the first season of the competition and so I know what to expect from conditions. With two other Afghanistan players in the squad there will be some familiar faces for me as soon as I walk through the door."
Noor joins compatriots Qais Ahmad and Faridoon Dawoodzai in a strong Vipers squad aiming to break their title drought. The Vipers have reached the ILT20 final twice — in both 2023 and 2024 — but ended up on the losing side, falling to the Gulf Giants in the first final and narrowly losing to Dubai Capitals in a thrilling final-over finish last season.
The Desert Vipers will open their 2025-26 ILT20 campaign in a high-voltage rematch of last year’s final against the Dubai Capitals on December 2 in Dubai. Noor is expected to be available for the full duration of the tournament.
