Shantha Rangaswamy Elected President of Indian Cricketers' Association

Former India women's team captain Shantha Rangaswamy has been elected as the new president of the Indian Cricketers' Association (ICA), marking a significant milestone in the organization's history. Former Delhi cricketer Venkat Sundaram has been appointed as the secretary.

Sundaram previously served as ICA president from December 2024, stepping into the role unopposed after the passing of then-president Aunshuman Gaekwad.

Deepak Jain has been named the treasurer, while Jyoti Thatte and Santhosh Subramoniam will serve as member representatives on the ICA board.

In a move highlighting the association's push for inclusivity and gender representation, the ICA board has nominated former India women’s team captains Sudha Shah and Shubhangi Kulkarni to represent the ICA in the BCCI’s Apex Council and the IPL Governing Council, respectively. This marks the first time a woman has been nominated to the IPL Governing Council.

V Chamundeswara Nath of the Hyderabad Cricket Association will serve as the male representative in the BCCI Apex Council.

“This election marks a notable moment for the ICA, with two women now serving on the ICA Board, and for the first time, a female president and a female nominee to the IPL Governing Council – reflecting the Association’s commitment to inclusive representation and progressive leadership,” the ICA said in a statement.

Rangaswamy, a trailblazer in Indian women’s cricket, was the first-ever captain of the national women's team and currently serves on the BCCI's Apex Council.
