Ravindra Jadeja Set to Represent Saurashtra in Ranji Trophy Clash Against Madhya Pradesh

India’s premier allrounder Ravindra Jadeja will turn out for Saurashtra in their upcoming Ranji Trophy second-round fixture against Madhya Pradesh, beginning October 25 in Rajkot. His inclusion comes as a major boost for the defending champions, who will look to capitalise on familiar conditions that have already proved spin-friendly this season.

Return to Domestic Cricket

Jadeja’s return to the Ranji circuit follows his successful stint in India’s 2-0 Test series win over the West Indies earlier this month. The 36-year-old was named Player of the Series, having scored an unbeaten 104 in Ahmedabad and taken eight wickets across two Tests.

The top-ranked Test allrounder has been on a short break after that series and was not part of India’s ongoing ODI squad in Australia. Speaking earlier during the Delhi Test, Jadeja said he understood the selectors’ decision.

“It is a good thing that they communicated the reason behind my omission,” Jadeja had said. “Whenever I get a chance next, I’ll try to do what I have done all these years. Winning a World Cup is everyone’s dream — we narrowly missed out last time, so next time we’ll try and make up for it.”

Spin-Friendly Conditions in Rajkot

Saurashtra will be optimistic heading into the fixture, especially with the match being played at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot — the same venue where spinners claimed 31 of the 35 wickets during last week’s clash between Saurashtra and Karnataka.

Jadeja will reunite with his long-time domestic partner Dharmendrasinh Jadeja, who took 10 for 203 in that drawn encounter. The duo’s experience and control could once again prove decisive on the turning surface.

Proven Record in the Ranji Trophy

Jadeja last played for Saurashtra in the 2024-25 Ranji season, featuring in two matches against Delhi, where he took 12 wickets, including a remarkable 7 for 38. His presence not only strengthens Saurashtra’s bowling attack but also bolsters their lower-order batting depth.

With India’s next Test assignment still a few weeks away, the Rajkot match offers Jadeja the ideal opportunity to maintain match fitness and continue his red-ball rhythm ahead of a busy international calendar.
