Fit-Again Litton Das Returns to Lead Bangladesh in T20Is Against West Indies
Bangladesh have received a major boost ahead of their upcoming T20I series against West Indies, with skipper Litton Das returning to lead the side after recovering from a side strain. The wicketkeeper-batter has been named captain for the first two T20Is to be played in Chattogram on October 27 and 29, with the third game scheduled for October 31.
Litton had missed Bangladesh’s last five T20Is after sustaining the injury during the Asia Cup last month. In his absence, Jaker Ali captained the team to a 3-0 series win over Afghanistan in Sharjah.
His return comes at the expense of Mohammad Saifuddin, who was impressive in the Afghanistan series, particularly in the third T20I where he claimed 3 for 15 in three overs.
Selectors have also left out Soumya Sarkar, who was part of the Afghanistan squad but could not play due to visa issues. Parvez Hossain Emon replaces him in the squad. Interestingly, Soumya’s omission coincided with his 86-ball 91 in the third ODI against West Indies in Dhaka earlier in the day.
The core group that recently delivered series wins over Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Netherlands, and Afghanistan remains largely intact. Alongside Litton, Bangladesh’s top order will feature Saif Hassan, Parvez Hossain Emon, and Tanzid Hasan, with Towhid Hridoy, Jaker Ali, Shamim Hossain, and Nurul Hasan forming the middle order.
In the bowling department, the spin trio of Rishad Hossain, Nasum Ahmed, and Mahedi Hasan will be complemented by the pace attack of Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, and Tanzim Hasan Sakib.
