277 Players Register for WPL 2026 Auction; Eight-Star Marquee Set to Open Bidding
A total of 277 players, including 83 overseas cricketers, have registered for the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 auction, scheduled to be held in Delhi on November 27. Franchises will compete for 73 available slots, of which 23 are reserved for overseas players.
Eight-Star Marquee Set Announced
The auction will open with a marquee set featuring eight top players. India’s Deepti Sharma and Renuka Singh are the only two from the country in this elite group. They will be joined by Sophie Devine, Sophie Ecclestone, Alyssa Healy, Meg Lanning, Amelia Kerr, and Laura Wolvaardt.
Most players in the marquee group have opted for the maximum base price of INR 50 lakh, with the exceptions of Renuka Singh (INR 40 lakh) and Wolvaardt (INR 30 lakh).
UP Warriorz Hold Four RTM Cards
Three marquee players—Deepti Sharma, Sophie Ecclestone, and Alyssa Healy—have previously represented UP Warriorz (UPW), who enter the auction with four right-to-match (RTM) options. UPW retained only one player, uncapped batter Shweta Sehrawat, ahead of the auction.
Overseas Representation
The auction pool features:
23 Australian players, though notable names Tahlia McGrath (formerly UPW) and Sophie Molineux (ex-RCB) are missing.
22 players from England
13 from New Zealand
11 from South Africa
Sri Lanka’s representation includes Chamari Athapaththu, Harshitha Samarawickrama, and Inoka Ranaweera, while Bangladesh’s Marufa Akter, Shorna Akter, and Rabeya Khan have all listed their base price at INR 30 lakh.
Big Names in Capped Allrounders Set
India’s Harleen Deol, who played for Gujarat Giants (GG) for the first three seasons, has entered the auction at the highest base price of INR 50 lakh in the capped allrounders’ category. GG’s Australian batter Phoebe Litchfield is also listed at INR 50 lakh, but GG cannot use an RTM as they have already retained two overseas players—Beth Mooney and Ashleigh Gardner.
Others in the capped allrounders’ set include Radha Yadav, Sneh Rana, Grace Harris, Chinelle Henry, and N Shree Charani, all listed at INR 30 lakh.
Spinner Set Features High-Value Names
Assam wicketkeeper Uma Chetry and allrounder Kranti Gaud have both entered at INR 50 lakh. The first spinner set (Sixth Set) includes:
Alana King (INR 40 lakh)
Asha Sobhana (INR 30 lakh)
Priya Mishra (INR 30 lakh)
Saika Ishaque (INR 30 lakh), previously with Mumbai Indians (MI)
Thailand’s Thipatcha Putthawong is the lone representative from her country, while USA’s Tara Norris, the first bowler to claim a five-wicket haul in WPL history, also features in the list.
Associate Nations and Missing Names
UAE’s Esha Oza and Theertha Satish join the Associate contingent, alongside Norris and Putthawong. No players from Ireland or Scotland have registered this year, despite Scotland’s Sarah Bryce featuring for Delhi Capitals (DC) last season.
Team Purses Ahead of the Auction
UP Warriorz: INR 14.50 crore
Gujarat Giants: INR 9 crore
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB): INR 6.15 crore
Mumbai Indians (MI): INR 5.75 crore
Delhi Capitals (DC): INR 5.70 crore
MI and DC, having retained five players each, will not have access to any RTM options.
The WPL 2026 auction promises intense competition as franchises aim to reshape their squads with a rich mix of global talent and rising Indian stars.
