India to Host Sri Lanka for Five-Match Women’s T20I Series in December
India will host Sri Lanka for a five-match women’s T20I series from December 21 to 30, marking both teams’ final international preparation before the 2026 Women’s Premier League (WPL) and next year’s T20 World Cup in England.
The first two matches will be held in Visakhapatnam, with the series shifting to Thiruvananthapuram for the final three games.
The WPL is scheduled to begin shortly after, starting January 9 in Navi Mumbai, before moving to Vadodara for its latter half. Notably, no Sri Lanka players feature in any of the five WPL franchises, but the series still offers crucial competitive exposure ahead of the global tournament in June.
The confirmation of this bilateral series follows the postponement of India’s white-ball contests against Bangladesh — a three-ODI and three-T20I tour — that had originally been planned for December.
These five T20Is will serve as vital tune-up matches for both teams, with the 2026 T20 World Cup slated to begin on June 12 in England. India and Sri Lanka last met in an ODI during the 2025 ODI World Cup opener on September 30, and previously in the T20 format during the 2024 T20 World Cup.
After the WPL concludes, India will embark on an all-format tour of Australia in February–March, continuing a packed and high-profile calendar for the women’s team.
