Pakistan to Tour Sri Lanka for Three T20Is Ahead of 2026 T20 World Cup
Pakistan will launch their preparations for the 2026 T20 World Cup with a three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka in early January next year. The Salman Agha-led squad will travel to Dambulla, where all matches are scheduled for January 7, 9, and 11.
The series marks Pakistan’s first white-ball assignment of 2026, and the PCB said the tour will offer “valuable match practice ahead of next year’s global event.” Pakistan will play all their 2026 T20 World Cup fixtures in Sri Lanka.
The PCB has placed a strong emphasis on T20I cricket in the lead-up to the tournament. Since the conclusion of the PSL in May 2025, Pakistan have taken part in an intensive run of limited-overs cricket, featuring home and away series against Bangladesh, a tour of the West Indies, two tri-series, the Asia Cup, and a home series against South Africa. They won all but two assignments—the away series in Bangladesh and the Asia Cup, where they finished runners-up to India.
Sri Lanka, meanwhile, recently wrapped up a three-week tour of Pakistan that included three ODIs and a tri-series also involving Zimbabwe.
Following the T20Is in Sri Lanka, Pakistan will return home to host Australia for a three-match T20I series in late January. They will then travel back to Sri Lanka for the T20 World Cup starting February 7. Placed in Group A, Pakistan will play India, Namibia, Netherlands, and the United States, with all group fixtures scheduled in Colombo.
