India Pacer Mohit Sharma Retires from All Forms of Cricket
India fast bowler Mohit Sharma has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket, drawing the curtain on a career that spanned more than a decade at both international and IPL levels. The 37-year-old, who hails from Haryana, represented India in 34 matches and featured in 120 IPL games.
Mohit, who made his international debut in 2013, played 26 ODIs and eight T20Is, taking 31 and six wickets respectively. He was part of India’s 2015 ODI World Cup squad and later became a trusted death-overs specialist for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) under the leadership of MS Dhoni.
Confirming his decision in an emotional Instagram post, Mohit thanked his teammates, coaches, and the Haryana Cricket Association for shaping his journey from domestic cricket to the international arena.
“Today with a full heart, I announce my retirement from all forms of cricket,” he wrote. “From representing Haryana to wearing the India jersey and playing in the IPL, this journey has been nothing short of a blessing.”
Over the course of his IPL career, Mohit represented CSK, Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings), Delhi Capitals, and Gujarat Titans. His standout season came in 2023, when he finished as the tournament’s second-highest wicket-taker for GT, just behind teammate Mohammed Shami. He appeared in three IPL finals but never claimed the title.
Between 2013 and 2025, Mohit played in every IPL season except 2021 and 2022, ending with 134 wickets from 120 matches. He also took 127 wickets in 44 first-class games for Haryana between 2011 and 2018.
Mohit’s last competitive appearance came earlier this year for Delhi Capitals against Punjab Kings, after which he was released ahead of the 2026 IPL auction, marking the end of a notable chapter in Indian fast bowling.
