Satterthwaite, Peterson and Tsukigawa Appointed as NZ Regional Female Pathway Leads

New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has announced the appointment of former internationals Amy Satterthwaite, Anna Peterson, and Sarah Tsukigawa as regional female pathway leads for Auckland, Canterbury, and Otago respectively. The trio will work under former New Zealand wicketkeeper-batter Sara McGlashan, who heads the nationwide network of female pathway managers.

“Enormously valuable” additions — McGlashan

McGlashan said the presence of three former White Ferns in pathway roles would significantly strengthen development systems across the country.

“Having three former players step into pathway manager roles is enormously valuable. Their experience allows them to connect with players in a way that truly accelerates development and inspires the next generation,” she said.

She added that their work across clubs, schools, and regional training environments would help create stronger, more supportive growth pathways for young cricketers.

Experienced trio take charge

Satterthwaite is the most capped of the new appointees, having represented New Zealand in 145 ODIs and 111 T20Is, and captained the national side in both formats. Since retiring from international cricket in 2022, she has remained involved in coaching, including a stint as assistant coach with the Adelaide Strikers in the WBBL.

Peterson, who played 32 ODIs and 33 T20Is between 2012 and 2020, brings extensive experience in both playing and development programmes.

Tsukigawa, now 43, played 42 ODIs and 19 T20Is from 2006 to 2011 and has long been involved in regional cricket structures, making her well-suited to the Otago role.

Additional staff appointment

Alongside the trio, Luke Pomfret, a former coach with Northamptonshire and Middlesex, has joined the Northern Districts pathway team, further strengthening NZC’s regional development network.
