Pakistan U-19s Crush Malaysia by 297 Runs in Asia Cup Opener
Pakistan Under-19s launched their Under-19 Asia Cup campaign in emphatic fashion, thrashing Malaysia Under-19s by 297 runs in Dubai after a dominant all-round performance.
Minhas and Hussain Dominate With Record Stand
Pakistan’s innings was built on a massive 293-run partnership between Sameer Minhas and Ahmed Hussain, which lifted the team to 345 for 3. Coming together after the early departures of Usman Khan and Ali Hassan Baloch, the pair shut Malaysia out of the contest with relentless strokeplay.
Minhas anchored the innings superbly, carrying his bat for a 148-ball 177 not out, studded with 11 fours and eight sixes. Hussain was equally impressive, smashing 132 off 114 balls to put Pakistan firmly in control.
Malaysia’s bowlers struggled throughout, with only Nagineswaran Sathnakumaran (2 for 91) and Muhammad Akram (1 for 64) managing breakthroughs.
Malaysia Bundled Out for 48
Chasing a daunting 346, Malaysia never recovered from an early blow as Ali Raza struck with the second ball of the innings. Under intense pressure, the Malaysian batting order collapsed, with no player reaching double figures.
Raza (3 for 11) and Mohammad Sayyam (3 for 27) led the dismantling, while Daniyal Ali Khan claimed two wickets. Malaysia were dismissed for just 48 in 19.4 overs, sealing one of the most one-sided results in the tournament’s history.
Group A Standings and Next Fixtures
The huge win gives Pakistan a major net run-rate boost, taking them to the top of Group A. They next face arch-rivals India U-19s on Sunday, while Malaysia will look to regroup ahead of their match against UAE U-19s on the same day.
Pakistan will hope to carry this momentum into their upcoming fixtures as the race for semi-final spots heats up.
