Jaiswal Century, Sarfaraz Fifty Power Mumbai to Big Chase Against Haryana

Defending champions Mumbai returned to winning ways in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Super League with a commanding run chase, mowing down a target of 235 against Haryana in Pune.

After losing their opening Super League fixture to Hyderabad, Mumbai produced a dominant batting display led by Yashasvi Jaiswal, who struck a blistering 48-ball century — the fourth T20 hundred of his career. Jaiswal’s innings, studded with 16 fours and a six, set the tone for one of the tournament’s most emphatic chases. He was dismissed with Mumbai just seven runs away from victory.

Mumbai completed the chase with 15 balls to spare and four wickets in hand, with Atharva Ankolekar sealing the win by smashing a six and a four alongside allrounder Sairaj Patil.

The chase gathered momentum after Ajinkya Rahane fell for 21 off 10 balls. Jaiswal then combined with Sarfaraz Khan in a breathtaking 88-run partnership for the second wicket off just 37 deliveries. Sarfaraz, among the capped batters set to go under the hammer in the first set of the IPL 2026 auction, further boosted his credentials with a rapid 64 off 25 balls, which included nine fours and three sixes.

Although Mumbai suffered a brief wobble late in the innings, the outcome was never in serious doubt. Jaiswal was named Player of the Match and shared the award with Sarfaraz in a gesture of appreciation for his partner’s contribution.

Earlier, Haryana posted a formidable 234 after Mumbai opted to bowl. Captain Ankit Kumar led the charge with an aggressive 89 off 42 balls — his joint-highest score in T20 cricket — but his effort ultimately proved insufficient.

Mumbai’s bowling options found limited success on a small ground, with Sairaj Patil emerging as the standout performer, finishing with figures of 2 for 44. Shardul Thakur kept things tight at the death, forcing Haryana to retire Samant Jakhar out on 31 off 14 balls during the 19th over after he struggled to score freely.

Despite Haryana’s imposing total, Mumbai’s powerful batting display ensured a comfortable victory, keeping their Super League campaign firmly on track.
