Suryakumar Yadav Rises in T20I Rankings; Abhishek Sharma Stays Top as England Stars Climb ODI Charts

India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has made significant gains in the latest ICC T20I batters’ rankings following a return to form against New Zealand, while Abhishek Sharma continues to hold on to the No. 1 spot. Meanwhile, England’s Joe Root, Harry Brook and Adil Rashid have all climbed the ODI rankings after their series win over Sri Lanka.

Suryakumar has moved up five places to No. 7 in the T20I batting rankings after scoring back-to-back half-centuries in the ongoing series against New Zealand. He followed up an unbeaten 82 in the second T20I with a 57 not out in the third, underlining his resurgence at the top of the order.

India allrounder Hardik Pandya has also enjoyed an upward movement, climbing one spot to No. 3 in the T20I allrounders’ rankings. Hardik has taken four wickets in three matches against New Zealand, in addition to scoring 142 runs in four games during India’s recent series against South Africa. Fellow allrounder Shivam Dube rose six places to No. 11 after contributing three wickets in the New Zealand series and a blistering unbeaten 36 off 18 balls in the second T20I.

At the top of the batting table, Abhishek Sharma has further strengthened his position as the world’s leading T20I batter. Scores of 84 off 35 balls and an unbeaten 68 off just 20 deliveries against New Zealand — despite a duck in between — have taken his tally to 929 rating points, giving him an 80-point lead over second-placed Phil Salt. Tilak Varma, who is set to miss the remainder of the five-match series against New Zealand, remains third.

Among bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah’s Player-of-the-Match performance of 3 for 17 in the third T20I has lifted him four places to No. 13 in the rankings.

England’s ODI stars also made notable progress in the latest rankings following their 2-1 series victory over Sri Lanka. Centuries from Joe Root and Harry Brook powered England to victory in the deciding match on Tuesday.

Root, who finished as the leading run-scorer of the series with 247 runs, climbed six places to No. 17 in the ODI batting rankings. Brook, who scored 184 runs in the series, made an even bigger jump, rising from No. 28 to No. 11.

England legspinner Adil Rashid, the highest wicket-taker of the series with seven wickets at an average of 19.85, moved up six places to No. 5 in the ODI bowlers’ rankings.
