USA Allrounder Isani Vaghela Suspended From Bowling After Illegal Action Ruling

USA allrounder Isani Vaghela has been suspended from bowling in international cricket after the International Cricket Council (ICC) ruled that her bowling action was illegal.

The decision followed reports from match officials during the USA Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier match against Ireland, who raised concerns over Vaghela’s action. The ICC’s Event Panel subsequently reviewed video footage of her bowling from USA’s next fixture — a victory against Papua New Guinea — and concluded that her action did not meet the required standards.

As a result, Vaghela will not be permitted to bowl in international matches until she corrects her action and successfully undergoes a reassessment, in line with ICC regulations.

The 20-year-old medium pacer made her T20I debut in 2021 and earned her first ODI cap in 2024. She has featured in 39 T20 Internationals, claiming 31 wickets, and has taken four wickets in six ODIs so far, establishing herself as a regular presence in the USA women’s setup.

USA endured a disappointing campaign in the Super Six stage of the qualifying tournament, finishing with just one win and missing out on qualification for the Women’s T20 World Cup. Bangladesh, Ireland, Scotland and the Netherlands secured the four available spots for the tournament, which will be held in England and Wales in June–July.
