Netherlands Bring in Klaassen and van der Gugten, Opt to Field; Myburgh Debuts for Namibia
Netherlands captain Scott Edwards elected to field after winning the toss against Namibia in their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup match in Delhi on Tuesday.
The Netherlands made two changes to the side that narrowly lost to Pakistan in their tournament opener, drafting in medium pacers Fred Klaassen and Timm van der Gugten. They replaced Kyle Klein and Paul van Meekeren, the latter having been the standout bowler for the Dutch against Pakistan.
The Netherlands had suffered a tense defeat in their opening match in Colombo on Saturday, scoring 147 before pushing Pakistan hard in the chase. Pakistan were under pressure until Faheem Ashraf struck 24 runs in the penultimate over to swing the match in their favour. The Dutch camp has spoken about moving on from that result as they look to get their campaign back on track.
Namibia, meanwhile, are playing their first match of the tournament and will be keen to make an immediate impact in their fourth consecutive T20 World Cup appearance. They take confidence from their most recent international outing, a one-off T20I victory over South Africa in October last year.
Willem Myburgh is set to make his T20 World Cup debut for Namibia, adding fresh pace to their bowling attack.
