New South Wales cricket team storm into One-Day Cup final as Patterson and Hadley shine
Kurtis Patterson produced a breathtaking unbeaten century and Ryan Hadley claimed five wickets as New South Wales surged into the One-Day Cup decider with a commanding seven-wicket win over Tasmania cricket team.
Chasing 275 to secure a place in the final — and needing to do so within 40 overs to leapfrog Queensland into second spot — NSW made light work of the target, racing to 275 for 3 in just 31 overs with 19 overs to spare.
The victory sets up a rematch between the two sides in the final on March 11 in Hobart.
Patterson’s power sets the tone
Patterson was in scintillating touch, smashing an unbeaten 125 from 89 balls in an innings that blended authority with urgency. Playing with the freedom of a T20 contest, he struck 17 fours and a six to register his third century across formats for NSW this month.
The Blues were briefly rocked when Sam Konstas fell for one, leaving them 3 for 1. But Josh Philippe counterattacked brilliantly with 58 from just 29 deliveries, ensuring the chase never lost momentum. Chris Green added a composed 47 not out from 45 balls to see the side home comfortably.
Hadley, Sangha dismantle Tasmania
Earlier, Tasmania posted 274 after being bowled out off the final ball of the 50th over. Charlie Wakim top-scored with 76 from 73 balls, while Jake Ward contributed 47. However, regular wickets prevented the hosts from building the sustained partnerships required for a more imposing total.
Hadley was the chief destroyer, finishing with 5 for 69 in a tireless spell that followed his six-wicket haul against Tasmania in the Sheffield Shield earlier in the week. Legspinner Tanveer Sangha provided crucial support with 3 for 57.
Despite a competitive total, Tasmania were ultimately overpowered by NSW’s aggressive chase, with Patterson’s masterclass ensuring the Blues booked their place in the One-Day Cup final in emphatic fashion
