Asa Tribe, Calvin Harrison shine as Lions romp to nine-wicket win

Asa Tribe and Calvin Harrison starred as the Lions cruised to a commanding nine-wicket victory over Pakistan Shaheens, maintaining their perfect record on tour after a 3-0 T20 series whitewash.

Leg-spinner Calvin Harrison led the charge with the ball, returning figures of 3 for 37, while James Coles claimed 2 for 25 as Pakistan Shaheens were bowled out for 152. The Lions then chased down the target with ease, reaching it with 25.4 overs to spare.

Pakistan appeared well-placed before a dramatic collapse saw them lose their last six wickets for just 32 runs. The slide began in the 29th over when Harrison struck twice in quick succession. Abdul Samad top-edged a sweep that was safely pouched at midwicket by Coles, before Ben McKinney produced a sharp one-handed catch at slip to remove left-hander Saad Baig.

All six Lions bowlers chipped in with at least one wicket, underlining a disciplined team performance. Coles wrapped up the innings by trapping Ahmed Daniyal leg-before to seal the Shaheens’ fate.

In reply, Asa Tribe and Ben McKinney laid a solid foundation with a 77-run opening stand. McKinney was the more aggressive of the pair, striking two towering sixes in his 42 off 41 balls before he was stumped by a delivery that kept low.

Tribe anchored the chase, compiling a composed unbeaten 52 from 64 balls. He was joined by James Rew, who finished 48 not out from 41 deliveries, as the pair added an unbroken 87-run partnership to see the Lions home comfortably.

The second match of the five-game series will be played in Abu Dhabi on Sunday, with the Lions aiming to extend their winning streak on tour.
