Pakistan Super League Signs Record Broadcast Deal Worth PKR 26.11 Billion Until 2029
The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has secured the most lucrative broadcast agreement in its history, signing a four-year deal with Walee Technologies valued at PKR 26.11 billion (approximately USD 93 million). Under the agreement, Walee Technologies — which also owns the Pindi franchise — will assume broadcasting and live-streaming rights from the 2026 season through to the end of the 2029 edition. Increased Value Reflects League Expansion The sharp rise in the deal’s value is partly attributed to the PSL’s expansion from six to eight teams, increasing the number of matches from 34 to 44 per season. However, even after accounting for the additional fixtures, the value per match has climbed significantly — from PKR 122 million to PKR 148 million — marking a 21% increase. The surge mirrors the substantial rise in franchise valuations seen earlier this year when three new teams were auctioned. Among them, the Multan Sultans franchise — now rebranded as Pindi — was sold for an eye-catching PKR 2.45 billion per year over a 10-year cycle. In a statement, the PSL said the agreement reaffirmed its status as “one of the most sought-after T20 properties in the region.” PSL CEO Hails Landmark Agreement PSL Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer described the deal as a milestone not just for the league but for cricket in Pakistan. “This will be the biggest broadcast deal in the history of not only the PSL but also Pakistan cricket,” Naseer said. “The steep rise in valuation of PSL's commercial assets reflects the remarkable growth and credibility of PSL as a world-class league. We are delighted that all past records and valuations have been surpassed in this four-year term from 2026 to 2029.” He added that consolidating television and live-streaming rights under a single entity would enhance fan engagement across platforms. “The strategic alignment of both TV and live-streaming rights in the Pakistan region ensures that our fans can continue to enjoy the PSL experience across multiple platforms with added enhancements and innovations that will be developed and launched periodically.” With expanded teams, rising franchise valuations, and now a record-breaking media rights deal, the PSL continues to strengthen its commercial standing ahead of a new era beginning in 2026.
